RV OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
If you live full-time in a city or dense neighborhood, RV camping is a great way to spend more time outdoors. And once you find yourself with all the access to nature you want, you can really put some hours into doing the outdoor activities you love.
Below, we’ve listed some of the favorite activities of our staff here at Campers RV Center. If you have the equipment to do these activities, bring it along on your next RV camping trip. For all your RVing needs, stop by our dealership and service center. We’re located in Shreveport, Louisiana and we proudly serve the areas of Bossier City, Ruston, and Monroe, Louisiana, as well as Marshall, Longview, and Tyler, Texas.
Biking
Biking is the perfect pairing with RV camping because it allows you to explore more of the local area without having to unhitch the tow vehicle from your RV. Whether you prefer road rides on country lanes or mountain biking on forest trails, biking is a great way to get some exercise on your next camping trip. Just make sure to bring some bike locks so that you can leave your bike back at the camp without fear of it getting stolen.
Kayaking
If you’re camping near a large body of water, bringing a kayak is always a great chance for more fun. A kayak is sort of like the marine equivalent of a bike in that it allows you to explore the area in an easier way than you could on your own. If you’re going to get into kayaking, make sure you bring a helmet and a life jacket, and always follow appropriate safety protocol.
Fishing
Fishing is an ancient, strange, and beautiful pastime. It can be calming and exhilarating and it can also put food on your table. Bringing some basic fishing gear shouldn’t take up that much space, too, especially if you invest in a collapsible pole. So why not keep a fishing pole or two in your RV at all times so you’re always ready to go fishing if you end up near a lake, river, or sea?
Hiking
In some ways, hiking isn’t so much of an activity as it is a facilitator of activities. Hiking can help you find beautiful vistas for photography and it can take you into the habitat of rare birds, if you’re a birder. It can give you meaningful alone time or it can offer an activity that allows friends and family members to bond. You don’t really need any specialized equipment per se. In most instances, a wide variety of shoes and clothing will be just fine. Running shoes, cross trainers, hiking boots, work boots and many other types of shoe will handle your average hiking trail, and as long as they’re comfortable, you shouldn’t have to worry about blisters. As long as you bring some activewear, hiking is always an option.
Climbing
Climbing is becoming a more popular sport around the country. Whether you prefer working out in a rock gym or clinging to massive geologic formations, there’s a good chance that you’ll be within range of something climbable on your next trip. While you don’t necessarily need specialized equipment to climb (this is especially true with regards to the technical form of climbing known as bouldering) it’s helpful to invest in some shoes.
Disc Golf
Disc golf is another outdoor activity that has taken off in popularity in recent years. Disc golf courses are popping up in campgrounds and parks all around the country. One of the reasons for this is that while you can spend years perfecting your disc golf technique, the sport is immediately engaging for novices because almost everyone knows basically how to throw a disc. If you invest in a few discs, you can keep them in your RV for whenever you come across a course.
Pickleball
Pickleball is a strange court game that, in terms of scale, sits almost exactly between tennis and ping pong. Like tennis and ping pong, it takes some hand-eye coordination to get good. But because of its scale, even children can get into without feeling frustrated.
Try some of these outdoor activities on your next RV camping trip! If you’re still in the market for a new RV, stop by Campers RV Center. We’re located in Shreveport, Louisiana, and we proudly serve the cities of Bossier City, Ruston, and Monroe, Louisiana, as well as Marshall, Longview, and Tyler, Texas.
