Class B - Compact and Cozy
Class B motorhomes are the smallest type of self propelled RV on the road. These RVs are built on a chassis roughly equivalent to a work van, which means that manufacturers have to get the most out of a relatively small living space. Class B motorhomes are a perfect choice for folks who are looking for the highest range of mobility on the road, however they can be a little tight when you’re trying to sleep more than two. If you’re travelling with a small child or a pet, a class B can still make a good fit, but as soon as your number of passengers reaches four, sleeping spaces get scarce and your holding tanks may not be sufficient without frequent emptying and refilling. Class B motorhomes make a great choice for newer RVers, as the relatively compact profile makes for an easy transition if you’re used to driving a smaller vehicle. Overall a Class B is great for a small family or couple who are interested in frequent travel and maximum mobility.
Class C - Maximum Versatility
A Class C offers a balanced profile, combining spacious layouts with moderate drivability to appeal to a wide range of travellers. Class C RVs are around the size of a box truck, typically incorporating a large cabover space to fill out a rather spacious profile. Newer Class C RVs often incorporate slide out walls which make such floorplans even more comfortable if you’re on the road with a large group. Depending on the layout you choose, Class C RVs can provide sleeping space for up to eight, however travelling with more than six can start to feel a bit tight. Class C RVs are typically outfitted with more robust amenities than a Class B, including more storage space, a larger kitchen, and more entertainment features to keep everyone happy when you travel. One drawback to the Class C when compared to Class B coaches is their drivability. These RVs occasionally face clearance issues (especially if you pack anything on the roof) and can be a little tricky in tight confines.
Class A - Comfort is King
Class A motorhomes are typically the largest of the three types of motorhome (although some Class C coaches are as large as a small Class A). The formidable size is roughly equivalent to a bus, providing manufacturers with more space to load up on cushy amenities and heavier hitting features. Class A motorhomes are great for large families because they often come in floor plans that allow everyone to have their own space at the end of the day, with sleeping spaces for 8 or more in some cases. The large storage spaces also mean that everyone has room for all of their must have vacation gear. Alternatively, if you don’t have a large family, but are looking for the most luxurious coach on the road, many Class A motorhomes are designed to cater to the needs of a couple in retirement, with opulent accommodations that satisfy your needs as thoroughly as a residential home. The downside to a Class A is on the road, where these coaches can be difficult to maneuver in tight spaces, and can face clearance issues that can send you looking for a detour.
If it’s just a trip for two, we definitely recommend the economy of our Class B motorhomes, while Class C represents the perfect cross-section of affordability and luxury, for families on a budget. If, however, you’re looking to take on-the-road comfort to the ultimate level, definitely come check out our line of Class A motorhomes.
