Prepping Travel Trailer: Systems Check, Battery, Circle Check
In part one of this two-part blog series, we looked at some of the simplest ways to prepare your travel trailer ahead of any trip you'll be using it for. Whether to a spot near your home or somewhere hours or days away, ensuring the travel trailer is properly set-up and in good working order will make your trip more comfortable and save you hassles down the line.
At Campers RV Center, not only do we offer a huge selection of travel trailers, RVs and other similar products, but we also provide clients with simple use and care expertise for any of our equipment. Here are some other simple tips for preparing your travel trailer ahead of a trip.
On-Board Systems Check
One of the most important aspects of preparing your travel trailer for a journey is to ensure all systems are in good working order. This includes everything from the brakes and lights to the water system, propane tanks and any other special features your trailer might have.
If you're unsure about how any of these systems work or need help troubleshooting an issue, our team at Campers RV Center would be happy to lend a hand. We can also provide you with replacement parts or accessories if needed.
Battery Considerations
While it's technically part of the above on-board system check, batteries are such an important component of any RV or travel trailer that they deserve a section all their own. If your trailer has been sitting idle for a while, it's a good idea to give the batteries a full charge before heading out on the road.
If you're planning to be gone for an extended period of time, you might also want to invest in a solar battery charger. This can help keep the batteries topped off while you're away from hookups and prevent them from dying completely.
Pre-Trip Circle Check
When we talk about the circle check, we're referring to a final check that's performed when your travel trailer is hooked up and ready to go. This is your last chance to ensure everything is in its proper place and working correctly before hitting the road.
As you perform the circle check, you should be moving in a "circle" (hence the name) around the outside of the trailer. Check things like the propane tanks, hitch and all exterior lights. Once you've gone all the way around, hop inside and check that everything looks good in there as well.
